We're not a team, we're a time bomb.

It's been about a year since my last post. Sorry about that. I've been very lazy in my blogging. I'm going to make a honest effort to post more frequently.

What made me dust off the old blog with a new post? The latest trailer for The Avengers.

It's no secret that I have a passion for sci-fi and comic book movies. And I have been looking forward to this one in particular for sometime. There were a few teaser trailers and small tid-bits of info here and there but nothing really solid.

That all changed this past Wednesday when this trailer came out. I am not exaggerating when I say, this trailer gave me the chills.

I see lots of trailers and action movies tend to be all the same. The hero, the bad guy, some explosions and a witty quote or two. This trailer has all of the above. But somehow, it's different. It seems much more epic in scope.

Marvel comics has been planning this movie for awhile and that work looks like it's going to pay off big time. Nothing like this has ever been tried before. (having several characters from several past movies all come together in an epic movie) And I think that the studio wants to get this one right.

Enough chit chat, lets get to the trailer!!!!! I still can't believe how awesome it is!!!!!!

Bad to the Bone - Megamind Review

I saw Megamind yesterday. It was a roller coster of a good time. Here is the info from Wikipedia:

Megamind (Will Ferrell) is a super-intelligent alien who-- at the age of eight days old-- is sent to Earth from his home planet during a time of crisis. However, he lands in a prison thanks to another infant alien similarly sent from a different planet who eventually becomes a superhero known as Metro Man (Brad Pitt), defender of the fictional Metro City. As a result, Megamind is raised as a social deviant, who is neglected for his destructive intellect, with his fish-like sidekick Minion (David Cross) as his only friend. Realizing that he enjoys causing trouble, and jealous of all of the attention Metro Man receives, Megamind becomes a super villain to rival Metro Man, though he is thwarted on a regular basis. During one of his many attempts to defeat Metro Man, Megamind kidnaps news reporter Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey) and uses her as bait to lure Metro Man into the city observatory where Megamind intends to kill him with a death ray. The plan appears flawed enough for Metro Man to escape, but he proclaims that the inside of the observatory is lined with copper, which he says drains his power. Metro Man is apparently killed by the death ray, allowing Megamind to take over Metro City. Megamind is initially thrilled that he has finally defeated his archenemy, but soon grows depressed over the fact that without someone to fight, his life as a super villain no longer has any purpose.

The basic story will be familiar to any sci fi fan. It's Superman's story. But when the "hero" is out of the picture, what is the villain to do?

It's a very interesting idea. I think that it touches on some very basic needs. First and foremost, what is the meaning of life? What makes us happy? And what will we do when we get it all? (Pretty heavy stuff for a cartoon.)

Don't get me wrong. This movie is full of laughs. It's loaded with gags for the kids, but there are lots of jokes for the parents. For example, when Megamind takes over, city hall gets posters that say, "No You Can't" (mocking the famous Obama, "Yes, We Can" poster.)

There are lots of similar 'adult' jokes in there.

The supporting cast is there and they do a very good job moving the story along. But the main focus in on Megamind himself and his journey of self-discovery. And lets face it, anyone with a giant blue head that's as funny as Will Ferrell, can't be all "bad" can they? :)

Scott Pilgrim vs The Matrix

I know I've been posting lots of mash-ups lately, but this one was just too good to pass up. This one is for the new movie Scott Pilgrim vs the World. It's based on a comic book and it takes the extra step to film the movie like you are reading a comic book.

If you've not seen the trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs the World, watch that one 1st.

Now here's the mashed up version... :)

Star Trek

Dumb & Dumber

Batman: The Dark Knight

300

Toy Story 3

I just had to come back and add Star Wars. :)

Bill and Ted's Excellent Inception

This is one of the things that I love to find on the Internet. Mash-ups. Taking two totally different movies and putting them together into a great trailer! If you saw my last post, you can see that I loved the movie Inception.

This trailer combines Inception with Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! One of my all time favorites from the 80's!! I think it makes it look much more intense!!

Much gratitude and respect to @katalysthq for finding this and tweeting it on Twitter!

Takers Movie Trailer

I saw the trailer for Taken. when I went to see the A-Team. I'm posting it here. The only reason I'm putting it here because I think it's cool to see Darth Vader and Lieutenant Uhura
in the same movie. AKA: Hayden Christensen and Zoë Saldaña! Star Wars and Star Trek people!! #geekingout :)

Here is the plot and cast from Wikipedia:

Takers[3] (formerly known as Bone Deep) is an upcoming 2010 crime, action and thriller film directed by John Luessenhop from a story and screenplay written by Luessenhop, Gabriel Casseus, Peter Allen, John Rogers and Avery Duff, with the based on the book by Gene Brewer. It features an ensemble cast that includes Matt Dillon, Chris Brown, Idris Elba, T.I., Jay Hernandez, and Zoë Saldaña. The film is scheduled to be released on August 20, 2010.[4] The film has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, a sexual situation/partial nudity and some language.

A group of bank robbers (Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, Paul Walker, Idris Elba and Hayden Christensen), who specialize in spectacular robberies, are pulled into one last job by a recently paroled cohort (T.I) who only to be pitted against a hard-boiled detective (Matt Dillon) who interrupts their heist.[5][6][7]

"A Good Plan." My Review of The A-Team

Some movies are made as high art. Some are to made to make a statement. Some are made to tell a moving story. The A-Team is none of these types of films. It's a big ridiculous action-packed summer blockbuster!! And I loved every silly minute of it!!

Anyone who knows the TV Show from the 80's will know the basics. Four soldiers accused of a crime they didn't commit, on the run from the law. This film is the origin story. How they met and how they were set up. No heavy plot to get in the way. It's more like 'Get your guns and choppers and shoot something!' The action is non-stop.

The cast is excellent. Everyone has their moment to shine. Liam Neeson plays the leader John "Hannibal" Smith. Always with a cigar in his mouth and a overly complicated plan. Bradley Cooper is Templeton "Faceman" Peck. He always has an eye for the ladies. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is Bosco Albert "B.A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus. A tough guy's tough guy, that's afraid to fly. Sharlto Copley rounds out the team as H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock. Who is just plan crazy. Jessica Biel is also in there. But her and the rest of the cast seemed to have gotten the short end of this script.

But the script and story is really the least of your worries. Don't try to use logic with this film. It doesn't work. It's much more fun to sit back and let the bullets fly. Or tanks. Don't ask. :)

Mortal Kombat Rebirth Trailer

This video has made it's way to YouTube. It seems to be a new trailer for Mortal Kombat. Normally when I put a movie trailer up, I get all the info. Cast/crew, etc. But this one seems to be shrouded in mystery. I could not find the "official" site or wikipedia page. (If anyone knows what it is, please tell me!)

The best I could find was a few small bits of rumors on this IMDB page.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005394/news#ni2779307

I hope it's the real deal. It looks awesome! I loved the games and older films.

I'll be sure to post more updates as soon as I find them... :)

6/9/10 UPDATE!!

Jeri Ryan (Who plans Sonya Blade in the trailer.) Confirmed yesterday on Twitter that it was her in the trailer.

"It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film."

"I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB... "

Maybe this will turn into the next big movie? Stay tuned... :)

New Trailer: Inception

This is a new film from Christopher Nolan. When you see the trailer, you really don't know what is going on. When you find out lots of it takes place in dreams, then it makes more sense.
Inception is an upcoming science fiction action thriller film written, produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, with a supporting cast that includes Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger, Dileep Rao and Michael Caine. Inception is scheduled to be released in both conventional and IMAX theaters on July 16, 2010.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible–inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea, but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

Law Abiding Citizen Trailers?

Here is a movie trailer for Law Abiding Citizen. It seems like a decent thriller. And I like the cast.

Law Abiding Citizen is a 2009 thriller film directed by F. Gary Gray from a screenplay written by Kurt Wimmer, and starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. The film takes place in Philadelphia and tells the story of a man who decides to exact justice on his family's killers, as well as the criminal justice system. Law Abiding Citizen was released theatrically in North America on October 16, 2009.[3]

The movie came and went from the theaters. But watch the trailer and then check out what some people did to it! They took the cast from the popular video game, Team Fortress 2 and it looks very different! :)

Here is the "updated" version! Which one would you want to see? :)

New Trailer for Robin Hood!

Here is the new trailer for Robin Hood! When I first heard that they were going back to do this again, I thought 'oh no, not again'. But after seeing the trailer, I'm very interested!

Here is the story from Wikipedia:

Robin Hood is an upcoming film based on the Robin Hood legend, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe. It is due for release on May 14, 2010.[2] The film began development in 2007 when Universal acquired a script entitled Nottingham, depicting a heroic Sheriff of Nottingham to be played by Crowe. Scott's dissatisfaction with the script led him to delay filming, and during 2008 it was rewritten into a story about Robin Hood becoming an outlaw, with the position of being Sheriff as part of the story. Scott dropped the latter notion and Nottingham was retitled to reflect the more traditional angle. The trailer was shown in front of Avatar and also in Sherlock Holmes.

It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Longstride, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his northern English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his, and by taking back what rightfully is theirs, to restore justice and happiness to England. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory and fairness. [3]

Behind the scenes of the new Predator Movie!

This is our first peek at Robert Rodriguez's new take on the Predator!! A sci-fi favorite for sure. I had hear rumors about the film. But after seeing this, I am very excited to see it!

Predators is an upcoming 2010 science fiction, action and horror film directed by Nimród Antal, and starring Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo and Derek Mears. The film is a sequel to the 1987 film Predator. Producer Robert Rodriguez stated that he named the film "Predators" in relation to how the second film in the Alien franchise was called Aliens. The title Predators is intended to have a double meaning, in that it refers to both the film's alien creatures, as well as the group of humans that are going against them.[2]

The film follows a mercenary named Royce who is abducted by alien creatures known as the Predators. He is released onto an alien planet—which acts as a game reserve—along with seven other humans, who with the exception of a disgraced physician, are all cold-blooded killers consisting of mercenaries and convicts. Royce reluctantly leads the group of elite warriors as they come to realize they have been brought together to this planet as prey for a new breed of Predator.[3] While battling to survive against these creatures, they come across an American soldier known as Noland who was brought to the planet years ago as game, but has managed to survive by hiding from the Predators in a cave. Noland reveals that the Predators have been hunting humans by dropping them on this planet for many years. [4] A cameo appearance was also written in the script for Arnold Schwarzenegger's character Dutch from the first film,[4] although ultimately he ended up not being involved[5].

New Trailer - MacGruber

Regular readers know I am a fan of Saturday Night Live. Here is the next film based on one of their skits. MacGruber! The sketch is a parody of the 1985-1992 adventure series MacGyver.

Here is the plot from Wikipedia:

Only one American hero has earned the rank of Green Beret, Navy SEAL, and Army Ranger. Just one operative has been awarded 16 Purple Hearts, three Congressional Medals of Honor and seven Presidential Medals of Bravery. And only one guy is man enough to still sport a mullet... MacGruber.

In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber (Will Forte) has sworn a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that's been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he's the only one tough enough for the job.

Assembling an elite team of experts—Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig)—MacGruber will navigate an army of assassins to hunt down Cunth and bring him to justice. His methods may be unorthodox; his crime scenes may get messy; but if you want the world saved right, you call in MacGruber.

At first, I thought it sounds silly. But after seeing the trailer, it looks pretty good! :)

New Trailer: Daybreakers

Daybreakers looks looks very weird. But in a good way. I saw the commercial today. It almost looks like you crossed The Matrix with a vampire movie!

Premise from Wikipedia:

In 2019, a plague transforms the world's population into vampires. With fewer humans to provide blood, the vampires seek to farm the remaining humans and to find a way to continue their existence. A secret team of vampires uncover a way that would rescue the human race. At the same time, a group of surviving humans wish to repopulate the species and survive.
